Dress For Success

Tuesday, 24 February 2009 12:47 by Leila
Dressing for success isn't an option if you're a professional sales person, or indeed, any kind of customer facing member of staff from receptionist staff up to managers and beyond…A recent article in the Wall Street Journal was quoted to me last week regarding how formality in dress is returning and the London Stock Exchange was recently in the news for holding seminars on how to dress to impress for female staff. No matter what you say, people expect people to look the part.
For example: A high-powered lawyer should look like a high-powered lawyer (you expect them to be in a very expensive suit). The same applies for all walks of life - customers expect their Therapist to look like a Therapist with a uniform on, not jeans and a t-shirt.
Someone once said that the best wardrobe advice is "Buy half as much and spend twice as much." In other words - a cheap outfit will look just that - cheap! Spend wisely and buy one really good outfit rather than 2 or 3 mediocre outfits.

Looking professional also means matching. Your nail varnish to your outfit, your belt to the colour of your shoes and so on... and speaking of shoes - they should always be clean and shined.

It is a fact that people react better to you if you not only act the part but also look the part. When you are getting dressed in the morning think...How do you want people to react you today? What do you want people to think about you today?
What first impression do you want to create? And what do you want people to remember about you today?

If the answer is a good, positive reaction along the lines of... this person sounds good
and looks good - then you better dress for success!

My thanks to Jim Meisenheimer for the ideas that this Blog is based on.

Social Networking Sites

Friday, 20 February 2009 12:18 by Leila
Are you using yours to it's full capabilities? Lynn Stevens, owner of Bliss in Hatfield and Tracey Woollaston, owner of the Beauty Haven in Bexhill on Sea have created business sites on Facebook allowing friends and clients to see their current offers and general salon news. Both have gained new friends and clients and, as joining Facebook is free, it doesn’t cost anyone anything to look! To end on a cute note – has anyone seen Tracey walking her dog with his purple coat on advertising The Beauty Haven? I would love a picture!

Handling cancellations: Salon's take note!!

Friday, 20 February 2009 11:54 by Leila
So often that last minute cancellation leaves an empty gap that cannot be filled and the receptionist says is… “oh, thanks for letting us know.”

Wouldn’t it be better for your client to hear…

“oh, we were really looking forward to seeing you today. When will I see you again? Shall we rebook you now?”

Or,

“ok, but don’t leave it too long before your next appointment. We don’t want all your investment wasted, do we? Your skin’s/body’s looking so fantastic now!” It’s that personal touch that makes people want to come to your salon and stay a client – are you offering it to your customers? If not, why not!

Wanted Stand By Clients - Total Image Health and Beauty Salon

Friday, 13 February 2009 05:32 by Leila

Total Image Health & Beauty has two salons in the heart of Pembrokeshire. One is situated in Pembroke Dock and the other in Milford Haven.
We pride ourselves on exceptional service and client care by highly trained and professional beauty therapists.

As such, it's not often that we sit on our hands and twiddle our thumbs or have nothing to do with our time, but there are the odd occasions that we have a late cancellation or have appointments that move around and create the odd gap here and there...... So, I had a great idea that we can all benefit from.

A Cancellation List with a difference.....
For our clients that are at home or have 'days off', if you could be available at short notice, please let us know and we can add you to our cancellation list. That way, when we have a cancellation or appointment gap we can give you a ring and you can help fill our emergency gaps. To thank you, we will give you 20% off any service you like!

Its a win, win situation, you get to look younger, feel sexier and get totally spoilt and save 20%! and we get to fill our gaps in the day so that we don't get bored.

So, if you would like to be put on our stand by list, please just e-mail us or ring with your name, preferred contact number and what day/s you're free and we'll ring you if we get a cancellation, it's that simple!

Extended Deadline

Monday, 2 February 2009 09:48 by Leila
Dear all,
I have requested that Professional Beauty hextend the deadline for registering for our free tickets and they have agreed. You can now click on the following link www.professionalbeauty.co.uk/london/collin and the site will take you to a registration page.
This link will only work up until the 7th February so hurry. As before, tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis.
Please be aware that this year Professional Beauty are being strict about the show being trade only...you must be either a qualified therapist, salon owner/manager/partner etc or student (you must wear your uniform if you are a student) and they have put a policy in place where they may ask you for proof of this at the show before they allow you to enter.
